Aspects represent parts of your personality, goals, values, and what makes up your... well, character. They also serve a crucial function in helping you regain Spirit, drawing strength from the things close to you whether you like them or not.
Each Aspect has a Level from 0 (for Aspects you don't have) to 5 (Aspects that are critical to you). Each Level is purchased with Experience. The higher the Level, the greater your ability to regain Spirit from that Aspect; for Aspect descriptions, 'X' refers to your Level in that Aspect.
At the end of each Chapter, you may exchange one (1) Level in an Aspect for one in another. When you do so, describe to the group how you have changed and grown as a result of your recent adventures, as well as how this has contributed to the shift in your Aspects.
There are no limits to how many Aspects you can use in a particular Round, except as listed for each individual Aspect.
For Aspects where you choose something for them - a habit or catchphrase, for example - you may choose multiple versions of the same Aspect. These are then treated as separate Aspects, each with its own Level.
When you get a chance to use your catchphrase, gain 1 Spirit. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
When chosen, pick your catchphrase and roughly what it relates to. This should be somewhat specific, and the TS will ultimately decide if it’s relevant enough for any given situation. That said, it doesn't need to be a literal catchphrase - it can be a distinct gesture you make, a tendency to quote facts about a subject you like, or any number of things. The main condition is that you must note when it's relevant, generally.
Gain 1 Spirit when you succeed on an action intended, at least in part, to impress others, look flashy, or otherwise show off. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
When you take an unnecessary risk and it pays off, gain 1 Spirit. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
'Unnecessary' means it isn't the only option with a realistic chance of success. 'Pays off' means the risk's direct outcome puts you in a better situation than before.
Gain 1 Spirit when you follow someone else's plan or instructions, faithfully, without changing anything. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
Gain 1 Spirit when you loudly vent your anger and frustration as part of your action. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
This can be done almost any time, but often carries other consequences. In any situation involving the slightest amount of decorum or civility, this will usually at least give you a Bad Circumstance to your action.
In a Round where you Catch Your Breath, if you spend that turn indulging your vice, you gain an extra 1 Spirit. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
When you choose this Aspect, describe your vice.
Gain 1 Spirit when you encounter the obect of your distaste, and blatantly express your opinion in its vicinity. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
When you choose this Aspect, describe what you find distasteful. This can be a situation, a creature of some kind, food, or a type of person; all sorts of things, really.
When you make a silly joke or comment in a serious situation, you gain 1 Spirit. Can be used up to X times per Scene.
When you declare a Spotlight Action, if it directly supports your higher purpose, you gain X Spirit. Can be used once per Scene.
When you choose this Aspect, describe your higher purpose - this can be a code of honor, a driving goal for your life, or anything similar that guides your life in a substantial way.
When you Excel at a Spotlight Action to defeat someone, you gain X Spirit. Can be used once per Scene.
For this, defeating someone can be in any kind of challenge, negotiation, game of skill, or situation where you perceive it as a contest or opportunity to show you’re better than them.
