Skills are your bread and butter. They cover broad ranges of things, and there's a decent amount of overlap, but some will be particularly well-suited for certain tasks. You can very frequently get creative with the use of your Skills, but there are always limits to what you can accomplish, and certain specific actions might call for the use of a particular Skill.
Each Skill starts at 0 ranks, and can go up to 10 ranks.
Since you choose which Skills to use for your actions, you can more easily focus on just a few Skills. Having low (or no) ranks in a Skill doesn't necessarily mean you're bad at everything to do with that Skill, just that you're less likely to reliably do so when you need to. Most characters will find themselves dedicating their Experience to improving a handful of Skills and ignoring the rest, and that's totally fine.
Your physical power and ability to move, break, and lift stuff. Can be used in any situation where the primary concern is how strong you are and whether you can... move, break, or lift something, really.
How flexible and in-shape you are, as well as how trained you are at using your body. Jumping, climbing, tumbling, swimming, you name it.
Being tough, resilient, and just generally powerful. If your success hinges on the ability to physically withstand something, this is where you go.
Being good at fighting; weapons, unarmed, you name it.
Avoiding being noticed, whether just blending into a crowd or hiding outright. Also includes doing things sneakily, sleight of hand, things like that.
Scheming is used for developing any kind of plan, putting things together, filling in gaps of your plan, and overall strategizing.
Tinker is used to make or manipulate things. Playing with devices, creating or sabotaging things, you name it.
Distracting or well… misleading people. Lies and disguises, basically anything that makes someone believe or focus on a particular thing, true or not.
Utter force of personality. Used to put on a good performance, seem larger-than-life, or just kind of make people like you more.
Getting people to change their minds. Raw logical argument, appeals to whatever, literally anything where you make someone actually think something different.
Understanding the situation on an instinctual level, as well as maintaining a clear head. Can help both read a room and keep calm by preempting your emotions.
Knowledge of social norms and specific social messaging. Aides in blending in to all manner of crowds, knowing which social actors are responsible for what, and generally reading the social tapestry - reactively or proactively.
Knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, chemistry, and other disciplines known to the intellectual elites. Understanding of the true forces that move the metaverse.
Knowledge of everyday wisdom and practices. First aid, trapping, farming, and most things a farmer or other member of a smaller town or village would hold dear.
Knowledge of magical disciplines, from elemental magic to spirit speaking to earthcraft. Represents an academic understanding of these things, as well as the ability to perform simple cantrips and parlor tricks. These include lighting candles or kindling, gently levitating a small object, or causing a small plant to either bloom or wither somewhat. Specific Techniques will massively expand the usefulness of Magic Use.
Define your Profession, describe what it does. What kind of training and aptitudes come with the job? Usually these are a bit more specific, but include a variety of things that would otherwise require multiple Skills. You may take ranks in as many Professions as you like.
